Web design in Calgary, from $697.
We build websites for local businesses. That's it. Fast, beautiful, honestly priced, and live in two to three weeks — the kind of site that pays for itself in the first month. Founder-led from Calgary, so you deal with the person actually building it.
What actually matters locally
For a Calgary business, the map pack beats the website.
When someone searches “coffee near me” or “emergency plumber Calgary”, the three results in the map box get most of the clicks. Those three spots aren't won by having the prettiest website — they're won with a properly configured Google Business Profile, consistent business listings across the web, real reviews, and a site that loads fast and tells Google exactly where you are and what you do.
Google sorts that box on three things. How close you are to whoever is searching, which you can't change. How well your categories and services match what they typed, which you can. And how established your business looks across the rest of the internet — reviews, mentions, listings that all agree on your name, address and phone number. That last one is where most small businesses quietly lose, and it has nothing to do with design.
It's also why the same name, phone and address have to appear identically everywhere they show up. “Ste 200” on one listing and “Suite 200” on another is the kind of thing that looks like nitpicking and genuinely costs you. When we set a business up, we fix the canonical version once and then use it everywhere, rather than letting six slightly different versions accumulate.
That's the honest order of operations, and it's why we do the unglamorous parts — schema markup, correct hours, location data, profile setup — alongside the design. A beautiful site nobody can find is an expensive business card. We'd rather build you something that shows up.
None of this is instant, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. A new profile with no reviews doesn't outrank a competitor with eighty of them because you built a nicer site. What a good site does is make sure that when someone does find you — from the map pack, from a referral, from a sign on your door — they book instead of bouncing. Getting found and being worth finding are two separate jobs, and you need both.
Local SEO, specifically
What we actually do to get you found.
“Local SEO” gets sold as a mystery. It isn't one. Here is the whole list — the first six come with every website we build, and the monthly plan is the same work done continuously rather than once.
Google Business Profile, set up properly
Created or claimed, verified, and filled in completely — primary and secondary categories, service areas, hours including holiday hours, services with real prices, and a description that reads like a person wrote it. Included in every package.
One canonical name, address and phone
We agree the exact wording once — down to whether it's "Suite" or "Ste" — and use that string everywhere. Six slightly different versions scattered across the web is a quiet, common way to lose the map pack.
Business listings that agree with each other
Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yellow Pages, and the Canadian directories that actually get checked. Not a thousand junk listings — the handful that corroborate you're a real business at a real number.
Schema markup Google can read
LocalBusiness markup with your address, geo coordinates, hours, price range and services, plus FAQ and breadcrumb markup where they apply. It's the difference between Google guessing what you do and being told.
A site that loads fast on a phone
Most local searches happen on a phone, often on mobile data. We build light: no bloated page builders, no twelve tracking scripts, images sized for the device. Speed is a ranking factor, but mostly it's a bounce factor.
Pages that match how people actually search
Real page titles and headings using the words your customers type — "emergency plumber Calgary", not "Our Solutions". A page per service or neighbourhood where it's genuinely warranted, and not where it isn't.
Getting found is only half of it
Click-to-call that works on the first tap, hours that are right, directions that open the map app, and a form that reaches you. A top-three ranking is worth nothing if the person who clicks can't book you in ten seconds.
Reviews — the part we can't do for you
Reviews carry more weight in the map pack than almost anything on your website, and they have to come from real customers. We'll set up your review link and tell you when to ask. We won't write them, and neither should anyone else.
None of this is a secret and none of it is a trick. It's a checklist, done carefully, by someone who will tell you when a step doesn't apply to your business. If you'd rather run it yourself, we wrote up how Calgary businesses actually show up in the map pack — take the list and go.
Who we build for
Calgary businesses we know how to build for.
Each of these has its own Calgary page, because the local specifics genuinely change the build — hail season for a roofer, Alberta Blue Cross direct billing for a clinic, Stampede week for a café. Same team, same pricing, wherever you are.

Timing
A Calgary year has a shape. Build against it.
Almost every local business here has a season that carries the rest of the year, and it's rarely the same one as the business next door. Knowing yours changes what we build and, more usefully, when.
Spring
The melt arrives and everyone looks at their roof at once. Renovation, landscaping and inspection searches climb, and the personal tax deadline at the end of April is the one date every bookkeeper in the city is judged on.
Trades · AccountantsSummer
Two things own the Calgary summer. Stampede is ten days that can carry a café's quarter, and it rewards whoever can change a menu from their phone. And hail doesn't build like a normal busy season — one afternoon and every roofer in the city is buried simultaneously.
Cafés · TradesFall
The city gets organised again. School is back, routine appointments resume, and clinic calendars fill. It's also when people who spent the summer meaning to sort out their website finally have an afternoon to do it.
Clinics · VetsWinter
Nobody walks past your door in a cold snap, so the decision moves entirely online. Furnaces quit at −30 and get searched for at midnight. Black ice fills physio calendars with wrists, backs and shoulders. And a chinook can undo the whole pattern in a day.
Trades · PhysiotherapyHere's the part worth acting on: you cannot build a website during your busy season. You'll be on a roof or behind a bar. And a brand-new site doesn't get trusted by Google overnight — it takes weeks to settle and months to build any standing in local search. Start when the hail hits and you're building for next year whether you meant to or not. The quiet stretch before your season is the cheapest time you will ever have to do this.

Who you're hiring
You deal with the founder. Not an account manager.
ClarioDesign is a small, founder-led studio in Calgary. When you email, the founder answers. When something breaks at 9pm, the founder fixes it. There's no junior handoff and no offshore team you never meet.
We're early days, and we'd rather be straight about that than pretend to be a fifty-person agency. What it means for you: a founding client gets genuinely obsessive attention, because your launch is the story we get to tell next.
In practice a project runs like this. We talk for half an hour about what your business actually needs — not a discovery workshop, a conversation. You get a written scope and a fixed price before any money changes hands. We design, you react, we build. Two to three weeks later it's live, and you get a half-hour walkthrough of how to change your own hours, prices and photos without emailing anyone.
The part people are usually surprised by is how little we need from you. One conversation, whatever photos you already have, and a list of the questions your customers keep asking. We write the first draft of everything else and you tell us where we got your business wrong.
Ours start at $697 for the Launch package and $1,397 for Growth. Around Calgary you'll see everything from $0 (do it yourself on Squarespace) to $15,000+ from a full agency. Most local small businesses land somewhere in the $700–$3,000 range for something genuinely good. Anyone quoting $200 is cutting a corner you'll pay for later.
Yes. We're based in Calgary, and for local clients we'll come to your café, shop, or clinic. It's genuinely useful — an hour in your space tells us more than a week of emails. That said, plenty of clients prefer to do everything remotely, and that's completely fine.
Nobody honest can promise that, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. What we can do is the work that actually moves local rankings: a fast site Google trusts, correct schema, a properly set-up Google Business Profile, and consistent business listings. For a local business, the map pack is the real prize — and it's far more winnable than the national results.
About 2–3 weeks from kickoff to launch for most sites, and 3–4 weeks for non-profits. The main thing that slows a project down is waiting on content — your photos, your copy, your logo. Have those ready and we move quickly.
You get 14 days to ask for your money back, no argument. After launch there's a 12-month warranty on anything that breaks. And there's no lock-in — the site is yours, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you want.
No. We're Calgary-based but we work with clients across Canada and the US, and the pricing is identical either way. Being local just means we can show up in person if that's useful to you.
The map pack is the box with three businesses and a map that sits at the top of the page for anything local. Below it are the regular blue links — the organic results. They're ranked by completely different things. Organic results care about your website: its content, its speed, who links to it. The map pack barely looks at your website at all. It looks at your Google Business Profile, how close you are to the person searching, your reviews, and whether your business details match across the rest of the web. For a café or a plumber, the map pack is where the customers actually are — which is why we treat it as the main event rather than an afterthought.
Yes, and honestly if you could only have one, we'd tell you to take the profile. A website with no profile is invisible in the map pack, and the map pack is most of local search. The good news is it's free and it's included in every package we build — we set it up, pick the right categories, write the description, and make sure the details match your site exactly. What we can't do for you is get the reviews. Those have to come from real customers, and they're the single biggest thing separating the businesses in the map box from the ones underneath it.
Yes. Google calls this a service-area business, and it's built for exactly your situation — trades, mobile groomers, consultants, mobile vets. You set your service areas instead of a storefront address, and your home address stays hidden from the public profile. The one thing to get right is picking areas you genuinely serve. Listing all of Alberta when you really cover the northwest quadrant doesn't help you rank wider, it just makes the signal muddier.
Yes — Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, Chestermere, and the rest of the Calgary area. Same pricing, same timelines. If you're a bit further out and everything happens over email and a couple of video calls, that works fine too. The in-person option is a bonus when it's useful, not a requirement.
That's the normal starting position, and it's the single most common reason a project runs long. We'll give you a short list of what we actually need — usually far less than people expect — and write the first draft of the copy for you to correct. For photos, the honest answer is that decent phone photos of your real space beat stock images every time. People can tell, and so can Google. If you'd rather bring in a photographer we'll tell you what shots to ask for.
For the Launch package, yes. Design, build, mobile, contact form, Google Business Profile setup, the local SEO basics, and the first year of hosting are all in it. There is no setup fee and no per-page charge. The things that genuinely cost more are extra scope — online booking, e-commerce, multiple locations, a large content migration — and we tell you that before you pay, not after. If we quote you $697 and then discover it's really a $1,397 job, that's our miss to explain, not a surprise invoice.
Hosting is around $15 a month once the included first year is up, and that's the only thing you're obliged to pay. You can also move the site somewhere else entirely — you own it. Local SEO at $297/month is optional and always will be. We'd rather you started without it and added it when the site has given you a reason to.
